NIHAN @ ARCHIVAL.LA

The idea is to create a small body of work that lives somewhere between a fashion editorial, a portrait session, and a short experimental film.

Over roughly four hours, we’ll shoot a mix of digital and film photography alongside cinematic motion. For the motion work, we’ll shoot with a $15,000 Atlas anamorphic cinema lens, the sam lenses used on Academy Award–winning Best Picture features, along with a mix of vintage and modern glass and formats.

Inside Archival.LA, we’ll work with a combination of LED constant lighting and natural light coming through the windows, allowing the look to evolve as the afternoon progresses. At the end, we’ll move outside around sunset, for a few shots on the street and potentially finishing on the roof with the downtown Los Angeles skyline.

Rather than creating several radically different looks, I see the shoot as three connected looks that evolve naturally over the course of the afternoon. Hair, makeup, wardrobe, lighting, and location can shift subtly as we go while still feeling like everything belongs to the same world.

The centerpiece will be a 2–3 minute experimental fashion film, accompanied by a substantial collection of film and digital photography and short-form motion content created in multiple formats.

The overall direction is classic, cinematic, intimate, and timeless—a deliberate collision of film, digital, stills, motion, vintage character, and modern cinema.

THE SPACE

Archival.LA is an expansive, beautifully curated space that gives us an enormous amount to work with creatively. Within a single location, we can create a wide variety of environments, textures, compositions, and backdrops without the shoot ever feeling confined to one set.

It’s comfortable, timeless, and inspiring—a place where we can move quickly, experiment, and allow the work to evolve naturally throughout the afternoon.

Three looks. One afternoon. One evolving visual story.

Below is a bit of inspo. I will continue to add to this, so feel free to suggest anything. This is a collaborative team effort!
